We're always on the hunt for the next best thing and a lot of us love makeup palettes that can be used for a ton of different things. They are great for traveling and leave us with using less products at once. Today, we are going to be taking a look at the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette and see if this is a good option for one of those universal palettes. Click the Read More tab for the full review!

This holiday season, Tarte came out with the Limited Edition Amazonian Clay Blush Bazaar Palette! It retails for $44 ($150 value) and comes with eight blushes and two highlighters. There's something for everyone in this palette! For a blush addict like myself, this was a dream come true! Click the Read More tab to read the full review and see if this palette is right for you or a loved one this holiday season! I love Tarte Cosmetics! They are one of my favorite high end brands! I recently got the rainforest after dark palette and I wanted to compare it to the showstopper palette and see which one is better or, just review them together! If you have been wanting to know which one you should grab first or at all, your in the right place! Let's get started!! Showstopper Palette: The showstopper palette was the first palette I got from Tarte between the two although, the rainforest after dark palette technically was released first. The showstopper palette was released this last summer in 2015. Which, really threw a lot of us off. As you can see from the pictures (top left), the showstopper palette is really not a summer palette. The blush, FAME, is definitely a summer color but, the eyeshadow shades are definitely fall or winter shades. Few people I knew grabbed the palette with me this summer and few if any, were happy with the release time of the palette. The blush somehow does not go with the palette at all in my opinion. The palette comes with three face shades: Fame for the blush, Park Ave Princess bronzer, and Champagne Pink highlighter. It also comes with six Amazonian Clay eyeshadows: Bronze Copper, Go For The Gold, You're A Natural, Steel The Scene, Rose To The Top, and Dim The Lights. Some people do not like the formula of Tarte eyeshadows but, I love them! They do have a more dry formula to them but, with my oily lids, they are most welcomed! The palette has only one matte shadow and 5 chunky glitter and shimmer shadows. The lightest shade in the palette is the only matte. I have really been into glitter and shimmer shades lately so it is a nice change for me! The shades are really pigmented and blend out really nicely for me! I do not get much use from the bronzer but, it can also be used as another matte shadow if needed. I have to say, I really like everything about this palette but, the blush. Even for the summer, the blush is just too orange for my taste and doesn't seem to go with the palette at all. A nice pink or muted mauve would of worked nicely instead of the bright orange. The packaging is amazing to me and i love the gold with the purple snakeskin top. It has a nice size circle mirror that allows you to use the palette on the go. It really is a great investment with the price tag of $38.00! Rainforest After Dark Palette: This palette I just recently received with a gift card that Tarte Cosmetics gave me for the Ipsy Cocktail event I went to in NYC. I have been wanting this palette for SO long and was so excited to finally get my hands on it! Like the showstopper palette, this palette comes with three face shades: Unleashed as the blush, Champagne as the highlight, and Park Ave Princess as the bronzer. It also has six eyeshadow shades: Bare To Explore, Make A Mauve, Plum Away With Me, Up To No Gold, Tan-gled Up In You, and Don't Turn A-Brown. This palette comes with three matte shades and three shimmer/glitter shades. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this palette. The blush and eyeshadows go with each other to perfection! It is a complete fall/winter palette and I love that! The eyeshadows as you can see in the top right picture, are perfection! They are so pigmented and creamy! The gold is my favorite shade out of the shadows! It comes with three shades you can use as a transition shade, along with shimmer lied shades and a couple shades to smoke out your look! I swear, this palette was made for me! I love how the packaging looks like wood with the snake that has the purple jewel on its head. This palette has a nice big circle mirror as well. Like the showstopper palette, this palette is priced at $38.00 as well! Such a good price for how good these palettes are! Comparison of The Two: My final thoughts on these palettes together are mixed for me. When it comes to packaging, I have to say I like the Showstopper palette better. The Rainforest After Dark palettes packaging is pretty but feel wise, it feels a bit more cheap than the Showstopper palette. I love the gold and purple snakeskin packaging of the Showstopper palette. Shade wise, I love the Rainforest After Dark palette best. The Showstopper palettes shades are so similar to each other, its hard to get a distinct look or more than one that look different. I love the blush in the Rainforest After Dark palette best but, I like the highlight in the Showstopper palette best. It has more of a sheen and stands out more than the highlight in the Rainforest After Dark Palette. Both of the palettes formulas are pretty much the same as they are all Amazonian Clay formulas! They are both the same size palettes with the same amount of product in each one. Over all, I would say I like the Rainforest After Dark palette the best. If you are stuck between which one to get, I would definitely pick the Rainforest one up first. If you have the chance to go in store and test them out, do it! I do not regret having both though. In my opinion, having both is best because you can mix and match and make the most beautiful looks. They are both great for the fall/winter season though so, I am in my glory!! Leave me a comment and tell me if you have both and what YOUR opinions are on them! Which one do you like better? Do you feel the Showstopper palette is lacking? Let me know!!
